The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released its first list of 71 candidates, finalized by the party’s Central Election Committee in New Delhi. The list features several key state leaders, including both Deputy Chief Ministers, as the party aims to balance regional representation with electoral strategy.

Among the major BJP names in the first list:

🎤 Maithili Thakur Joins BJP Ahead of Elections
In a notable development, popular folk and devotional singer Maithili Thakur officially joined the BJP in Patna on Tuesday, in the presence of Bihar BJP President Dilip Jaiswal.
Her induction is expected to boost the party’s cultural and youth outreach, particularly among Mithila region voters.
🤝 Alliance Partners Announce Candidates
NDA ally Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular), led by Jitan Ram Manjhi, also released a list of six candidates for the upcoming polls.
Meanwhile, on the opposition front, the Grand Alliance’s Left constituent — CPI(ML)L — announced its first list of 18 candidates, marking the beginning of the Mahagathbandhan’s candidate rollout.
The RJD and Congress, key partners in the Grand Alliance, are still finalizing their seat-sharing arrangement amid ongoing negotiations in New Delhi.
🔍 The Battle Lines Are Being Drawn
With both alliances now in election mode, Bihar’s political atmosphere is heating up.
While the NDA seeks to retain power under its dual leadership formula, the Grand Alliance is positioning itself as the main challenger, banking on anti-incumbency and caste equations to turn the tide.
As nomination filings begin, all eyes are on Patna, where top leaders from across party lines are expected to hit the campaign trail in the coming days.
